Emir of Dubai says Nigeria is a potential super power capable of dominating the world

NIGERIA has been described a potential super power with the capability to become a dominant player on the global economy by the emir of Dubai and vice president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Speaking yesterday at a meeting with the chief executive of Nigerian construction firm, Sujimoto Group, Sijibomi Ogundele, during his visit to Dubai, Skeikh Al Maktoum described Nigeria as the business hub of Africa. Their meeting was called to explore investment opportunities and exchanges between the Nigerian luxury real estate brand, Sujimoto Construction and top Emirati architectural firms.
Shiekh Al Maktoum added: “Dubai is great but Nigeria’s potential is beyond our imagination. Nigeria would be one of the greatest countries not only in Africa but also in the world with the right investments and infrastructural developments as her economy is developing rapidly and her construction industries can match what obtains in many advanced countries.’’
“Failure is never an option and Dubai can never afford to settle for less. The fear of failure is my number one motivating factor as I wake up each day reminding myself that I would do everything to show the world that the UAE and Dubai in particular would never become followers but leaders in all sectors."
Mr Ogundele said: “The real estate sector in Dubai inspires me a lot, so I desire to transform the Nigerian building sector to match that of the UAE. Our flagship buildings, Lorenzo By Sujimoto, are designed after outstanding UAE structures and we intend to achieve this by bridging the gap in the provision of exceptional luxury structures in Lagos, Nigeria, other parts of West and ultimately the UAE.”
Of late, Dubai has become a major investment destination for Nigerian millionaires. Not only do are they buying houses there but it is also a favourite holiday destination and a plum location for ceremonies like weddings.
Mr Ogundele added that with the right investments and infrastructural developments, Nigeria’s economy would develop rapidly and her construction industries would be able to match what obtains in many advanced countries. Like Nigeria, Dubai is a major oil producer but of late, it has greatly diversified its economy.
